From the Captain
We've gotten quite a few questions about Meat Week this year. It seems a lot of you aren't familiar with what Meat Week's all about. Well, here's the scoop:

• Meat Week was founded in 2005 in Tallahassee, FL. It is an eight-day celebration of barbecued meats, ending on Super Bowl Sunday. There are now chapters in 26 different cities across the US.
• Every year, the captain and first mate of each chapter select eight great restaurant and set the schedule.
• If you want to participate in Meat Week, all you have to do is show up at the advertised time. You can find this year's schedule here: http://www.meatweek.com/cities/newyork
• You don't have to go every night (though some brave souls do!) Just go whichever nights are most convenient for you
• There's no charge for participating in Meat Week. The only thing you'll pay for is your meal (and possibly an awesome Meat Week t-shirt, if you are so inclined: http://shop.meatweek.com/).
• You are encouraged to bring your friends. Meat Week is open to everybody. (Even vegetarians! They love side items.)
• You don't have to sit with other Meat Weekers. If you bring a large group of your own friends, feel free to sit at your own table. However, you'll be missing out on one of the best parts of Meat Week -- meeting other likeminded carnivores!
• RSVPs are not required, but they are helpful. We like to have a general headcount so we can give each restaurant a friendly heads up. You can RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/meatweeknyc/events

That's really all there is to it. Meat Week is basically an excuse to get together with friends and enjoy some delicious barbecue (nature's greatest gift!) If you want to celebrate Meat Week with us, just show up and chow down.

Meat be with you,

Vincent Tang & Mack Williams
