Welcome Meat Weekers:
What a year it's been for Que in the District! We've seen some huge developments in DC-area BBQ this year: the opening of Texas-style BBQ restaurant, Hill Country; a brand spanking new home for Safeway National Capital BBQ Battle winners, Pork Barrel; the introduction of DC's very own BBQ truck, PORC; and the addition of The Washington Post's acclaimed BBQ column, Smoke Signals. I would say BBQ is the new cupcake, but there's no doubt that this American tradition is here to stay. This is no fad, folks.
The past two years have been such a huge success that for the third annual DC Meat Week, we'll be adding an 8th day of Que. Based on limited seating in some locations, we’ll be asking you to RSVP. Check out the lineup below, and sign up early and often to ensure you get a seat at the most choice of locations.
Come out and celebrate the triumph of America's cuisine with your fellow Meat Weekers. Bring your friends. Bring your family. Bring your date and impress him or her with your knowledge of Kansas City vs. Memphis vs. Texas-style BBQ. Otherwise, just bring yourself and come make some new carnivorous friends. Come one night, two nights, or for the iron-deficient, all eight nights. If you're lost, look for your Captain and First Mates in the "Eat Meat, Repeat" or "DC Meat Week" t-shirts.
Additional details, specials and trivia will be posted during the week via Facebook and Twitter (
@meatweek,
@babeque) and on the Capital Spice blog (
www.capitalspiceblog.com).
